The brand comprises more than about 450 different organic textile products, distributed in more than half a dozen different categories (yarns, fabrics, clothing, accessories, etc.) which have been developed in Peru since 1982.
Built on the basis of more than 30 years of experience by the American anthropologist James M. Vreeland, Jr., Naturtex was established in 1997 to acquire, in a sustainable manner, the manufacture and export of organic textiles to the whole world.
We highlight the fibers of Organic Organic Cotton Peru and alpaca, which as part of an ancestral heritage, are pigmented with natural colors created by the indigenous and peasant communities of the Andes. As heirs to a millenary tradition, these farmers, herders and artisans ensure the constant supply of high quality fiber for the spinning and weaving of modern Peruvian garments. Our vertical integration of the productive processes, under the regimes of ecology and fair trade of fibers (cotton and alpaca). We also have the sustainable textile seal GOTS for the manufacture of garments.
Like our products, Naturtex has a long history and a deep commitment to textile values and environmentally sustainable processing. The company has its roots in three generations in Brooklyn, New York, where Vreeland's grandfather, German immigrant Karl August Hummel, founded Hummel and Robinson Co. in 1913, specializing in textile dyes and processing chemicals. Under the direction of Vreeland's father, James Sr., the company expanded considerably, adding vitamins and propellants, which are still sold all over the world.
