A recent study in The New England Journal of Medicine analyzed the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in steel, cardboard, plastic and copper. The research used an aerosol dispensing device that simulated droplets created by coughing or sneezing, and they checked how long the virus survived on different surfaces. The study revealed that SARS-CoV-2 remained viable two to three days later on the surface of stainless steel as well as on plastic. On cardboard the contamination lasted up to 24 hours. While on the copper surface, the presence of the virus was not detected after four hours.
Over the past 100 years, science has expressed increasing interest in the role of copper in human health and well-being. The antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties in copper complexes have been recognized since ancient times and have recently been confirmed by modern science.

The Qoperfina® textiles from Naturtex / Eko Peru, combine Peruvian organic cotton, baby alpaca fiber in natural colors and the natural fiber of pure and natural copper; An intimate blend that provides an incredibly soft, durable and healthy fabric that offers both fashionable and therapeutic properties to the wearer at moderate prices. This high-tech performance is suitable for spinning and weaving applications, including apparel, intimate apparel, socks, home textiles and furnishings, bed and bathroom.
Qoperfina® is antimicrobial with antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal properties. The sterilization and deodorization capabilities of copper prevent the growth of various bacteria, fungi, and germs.
Qoperfina® textiles have anti-inflammatory properties
It is now well accepted within the scientific community that copper, in contact with the skin, forms a copper chelate that is absorbed back through the skin membrane and transported throughout the body. Copper chelates exert an anti-inflammatory action that helps relieve arthritic symptoms and helps neutralize harmful free radicals present in the body.
Qoperfina® textiles are thermoregulatory
Fabrics containing copper retain the body’s heat, emanating from within and redirecting this heat back to the body, while the porosity of the tissue allows air to circulate so that the body can still “breathe”
Copper textiles have conductive and antistatic properties
Qoperfina® textiles are considered anti-stress fibers, which can help protect against electromagnetic waves that deplete our natural serotonin and melatonin, hormones that help guide our sleep pattern and protect against some pathogenic effects. Technical uses could include protection against electrical and electromagnetic interference between electronic devices such as cell phones and computers in airplanes, hospitals, and filtration.
Qoperfina® textiles provide protection against UV radiation
Qoperfina® Copper textiles are suitable for applications requiring high temperature and solvent resistance and technically intelligent textile applications.
Qoperfina® colored, reflective and flat surface metallic textiles can give a papery feel to fabrics, which can be pleated, crushed, wrinkled or given an old appearance, adding texture to the luminous color. Metallic fibers can be combined with soft merino or noble fibers for light accents or therapeutic applications.
